How should atenelol be safely decreased in dosage in a 83 year old women that is having side effects?

With doctors help: I don't think its a good idea to taper a medication like this with internet advice. I'm not sure what the purpose of the atenolol prescription was, but changing dosing without doctors supervisioin can lead to unintended consequences.
