A member asked:

During the inactive phase of life cycle of hepatitis b virus in hepatocytes can there still be liver damage?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No, but...: Biopsies of livers with inactive hepatitis b show no inflammation by histology and liver enzymes are normal. But low levels of replication can still occur and this may have some influence on carcinogenesis.
