A member asked:

Are diabetes insipidus and cigarettes related?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nicotine: Nicotine increases release of most pituitary hormones, including ADH (vasopressin) (anti-diuretic hormone), in a normal pituitary gland. Diabetes insipidus is produced by deficient or abscent secretion of ADH (vasopressin) or lack of response from the kidneys. Therefore cigarett smoking will not bring improvement of the condition.
