A member asked:

Can you tell me what the epidemiology of diabetes insipidus is?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Rare disorder: Diabetes insipidus (di) is a rare disorder in which the kidneys cannot concentrate urine, thereby causing excessive loss of water from the body and dehydration. It can result from a problem of the pituitary gland, or from a defect in the kidneys. However, most people who think they have di are actually excessive fluid drinkers, and urinate a lot because they drink a lot.
