See below: Your body will chill when your core temperature drops and the thermoregulatory center in the hypothalamus in your brain detects this and directs your body to shiver in order to raise your core temperature. Also, when you get an infection pyrogenic antigens from the infecting organism and cytokines from immune cells can cause the hypothalamus to send out these same signals to the body to chill.
