How does diabetes affect the skin?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

In many ways: You do not only glycate your hemoglobin creating glycohemoglobin (the main one hba1-c) you also glycosilate your connective tissue hardening it and your skin looses its elasticy and also aquires a wax type appearance. Long term the small nerves that give your skin sensation of pain(danger signals) also get damaged and ulcers do to unrecognizad pressure come in and are very slow at healing.
