Depends: There are about 10-15 different anesthetics that dentists can use based on a number of factors. The all have different duration's of action. It is also different with different people based on metabolism. The most common anesthetic used- Lidocaine typically takes around 1-2 hours to wear off for your teeth and around 4 hours to wear off for your gums/lips.
