Many possibilities: Finger pain can come from many causes, including gout, osteoarthritis, strain, fracture, etc. Additionally, a negative RA test does not always rule out rheumatoid arthritis. Best to see your doctor to have additional tests or xrays performed to establish a cause for your pain.

It tests were: Done for ra, i would imagine testes were performed for uric acid levels as well. Is it possible it is gout, sure it is possible. Gout pain is usually not present for 6 weeks....So while possible, it would not be high on my differential list. But, is easy ruled out thru both blood and urine tests.

Unlikely: If you are premenopausal and have normal kidneys, gout is very unlikely. Ra tests are not always positive in ra. Do you have psoriasis or is there paoriasis in the family? If so could be psoriatic arthritis.
