What is treatment for polycythemia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Blood letting.: There are different types of polycythemia. What they have in common is an elevated number of red blood cells. If too many, this can cause serious complication and is managed by taking blood out (phlebotomy). There are other medications that might be recommended depending on the type of polycythemia, the other blood counts and the patient's age & general health.
