Permethrin cream: Elimite (permethrin) is the brand. The generic works as well & is less costly. Be sure to also alert any people exposed to you, either because they gave it to you or because you gave it to them. Check to see if they spread to your eyelashes. Permethrin is safe & effective.

Treatments: Pubic lice (phthirus pubis) can be treated with otc product like nix (permethrin) or rid. Other options are prescription medications like Malathion (kept on affected area for 8 to 12 hours); invermectin (2 pills – may need to repeated in 10 days); lindane (if you have failed other treatments).
