6 weeks to 6 months: Really depends on whether you are breastfeeding, which can suppress ovulation. If you do not breast feed, 1-2 months is common. If you do breast feed 2-6 months. And, of course, the priod occurs after ovulation, so you can get pregnant before you start having periods again, even when breastfeeding!
