A member asked:

What is the current scientific thought about episiotomies?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Often useful: Though not always. There are anti-episiotomy militants online; I've looked at their stuff and it's emotional and inflammatory rather than scientific. When you hear a routine medical procedure that often prevents a woman being lacerated from her vagina to her anus described by activists as "violence" by wicked physicians, you know this is a personal agenda rather than real science.
