A member asked:

What happens when in vitro fertilization is done?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Several steps: The woman is given injectable fertility drugs to produce several eggs. The eggs are removed from her ovaries through her vagina while under anesthesia. The eggs are fertilized with sperm and embryos are grown in our lab. An average of two advanced embryos (called blastocysts) are placed in her uterus and two weeks later we do a sensitive pregnancy test. Hope this helps!
