No: Calf pain is not normal after knee surgery. I would go back to your orthopedic surgeon as soon as possible. You can possible have a blood clot in your calf after surgery. If you have asleep venous thrombosis that could be life threatening.

Maybe: Some pain is to be expected around the knee but new pain and swelling may indicate a deep venous thrombosis, dvt, and should be evaluated by a doctor asap. You probbaly will need a duplex ultrasound. Call your orthopedist.
