Bleeding: People with hemophilia lack normal levels of factors required to make blood clot. They are at risk for bleeding with any injury, and often bleed into joints which is very painful and eventually disfiguring. Emergency treatment to replace the needed factors intravenously is crucial to control episodes of bleeding.
