Radicular pain: Sciatica is a general term for radiculopathy involving the lower extremity usually resulting from a herniated disc that is irritating and or compressing a nerve root. It may also occur from bony compression such as facet arthrosis or spinal stenosis or even muscular compression, i.e., piriformis syndrome.
