What are the components of oral contraception pills?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

2 hormones: The majority of birth control pills contain some type of synthetic estrogen and progesterone. The common Estrogens used are ethinyl estradiol, mestranol, while the commonly used progestins are norethindrone, levonorgestrel, norgestimate, and drosperinone. There are some pills that only contain progestins, and these are used in breastfeeding moms or people who have a contraindication to estrogen.
