Treat cause: Acanthosis nigricans is a skin condition usually due to Insulin resistance. Many conditions have been associated with it including genetics, obesity, diabetes, thyroid problems, polycystic ovary syndrome, certain medications and rarely cancer. It sometimes fades and can even disappear if the underlying cause can be corrected, but it's usually permanent.
