Different type cysts: Not all ovarian cysts arise from ovulatory follicles that failed to rupture and release the egg. Some cysts spontaneously develop from other cells in the ovary. Examples include "dermoid" cysts which can contain hair, skin secretions and other mature adult tissues. Other types are cystadenomas (both serous and mucinous), and cystadenofibromas.
