"Pop" diagnosis: Exactly how often symptoms are due to increased permeability of the gut is an unanswered question. It's clearly not the explanation for most-if-not-all disease, as some folks would have you think. Before you accept the daignosis, be sure there's been some testing to show extra absorption of sugars such as sucrose or mannitol, and get a few opinions.
