Hard to say: First, i'm so sorry for your loss. So sorry. Loss in the second trimester may be due to either preterm labor or a weak cervix (incompetent cervix). Unfortunately, the diagnosis is at times made after a loss, like in your case. If your exam was normal as you stated, seems like they did the best they could have done with the information at hand. Next pregnancy, may need a cerclage. Talk with your md.
