Why does vitamin b12 deficiency cause neurological symptoms?

Required by nerves: This co-factor is needed by the nerves to stay healthy. Each nerve cell has a self repair system that relies on a variety of nutrients in our diet to provide the needed material to keep the walls intact and the cell working. Lack of B12 eventually causes that repair system to start breaking down and nerve cells malfunction or degenerate, leading to neurologic symptoms.

Vitamin b: A lack of vitamin B12 can lead to nerve damage as it is needed for proper nerve function. This can lead to sensations of numbness and tingling, occurring anywhere in body, most commonly hands and feet. Grasping objects, walking, and maintaining balance may become challenging due to loss of sensation. Adding foods high in B12 may be all you need, if severe deficient may need shots. Hope helps.
