Yes: There are many causes of back pain. Cancer is 1. Most back pain, however, is not caused by cancer.

Anything is possible: Back pain can be caused by so many factors- the most common cause of back pain is muskuloskeletal in nature such as arthritis, muscle sprain/spasm, disk problems, trauma, autoimmune disorder etc. Some cancers that have spread to the bone can cause pain as well.
