Glass in foot: If you know it's a very small piece & not deeply imbedded, you can remove it; cleanse the wound; dress it (antibiotic ointment + sterile covering). If there's any doubt as to size, go to er where they may take radiograph to determine size & depth; er is also equipped to deal with significant bleed if glass is preventing artery from flowing freely. Make certain tetanus booster is up-to-date.

Try to remove: If you have a piece of glass in your foot, it is best to have it removed. Glass can be quite a challenge to find and remove from a wound - this is best done at the time of the injury. If the skin has healed and there is no pain or tenderness, then just leave it be until or unless new tenderness, reness, swelling or pain develops.
