Yes: There is virually no data about using this medication with breastfeeding. Dr. Thomas hale, who is one of the worlds experts on medications and breastfeeding, has no real data on safety. However, his website states that it is likely safe since most of the other medications in this class are safe. That is not, however, a lot to go off of and i might suggest you talk to your doctorfor a safe med.

Yes: A small amount of Pindolol passes into breast milk and can exacerbate wheezing in infants with a history of wheezing. The breast feeding mother should take alternative medication other than Pindolol in case her infant has had recurrent wheezing episodes.

Pindolol: Pindolol is a beta blocker which slows your heart rate, some of these types of meds can get into breast milk and cause bradycardia in infants. As with most medicines you should discuss with your doctor and pediatrician whether you should continue this medicine or breast feeding.

Ask your doctor: There is limited information indicating that maternal Pindolol produces low levels in milk. With a short half-life and only moderate renal excretion, it would not be expected to cause any adverse effects in breastfed infants, especially if the infant is older than 2 months. In a study of mothers taking beta-blockers during nursing there was increased adverse reactions in breast fed infants.

Caution!: While most beta blockers are ok during pregnancy (fda category b, studied in animal reproduction trials but not human, and no signs of adverse events), Pindolol lists a "caution if breast feeding" on the label. This is due to the medication being transferred in breast milk to the baby, causing slow heart rates, low BP or aggravating asthma. Talk to your pediatrician.
