Take her to dentist: Children, even babies get decay in their teeth just like adults. Whether your daughter has decay in baby or adult teeth, a dentist can diagnose and let you know for sure. They might have to take xrays and will perform an exam before they can share that information with you.

See a dentist: Children should have their first visit to the dentist when those teeth first erupt- around age 1 year. The dentist can see if there are early tooth decay ( such as white spots) and help you figure out how to reduce the risk that your child will have tooth decay as she grows. The good news is that tooth decay can be stopped if caught early. And is generally considered 100% preventable.

Caries indicator: A dentist will use a sharp instrument called an explorer to "feel" if a discoloration area on a tooth is "sticky". If the explorer easily glides over the area, the provider will not recommend putting a filling there until the area in question pulls back on the explorer when pressed. Only when a suspicious area "pulls" on the explorer is a cavity diagnosed.

X-ray : Your dentist can take an x-ray of the teeth involved to determine whether there are cavities present and to verify the depth of the cavities.
