A member asked:

Can you be addicted to cigarette smoke if you don't smoke cigarettes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Repeated exposure to second-hand smoke, both in cars and homes, is associated with nicotine dependence symptoms in non-smokers. Unfortunately, this often happens to children of parents who smoke around them. Years ago non-smoking nurses and doctors would become addicted to second-hand smoke when patients were permitted to smoke inside hospitals (seems strange to imagine these days).
