Increased Water Loss: Eczema is an inflammatory skin condition in which the epidermal barrier function is compromised and loses water into the atmosphere (insensible water loss). After a sunburn, many epidermal skin cells die, increasing the water loss. Your skin becomes drier and more itchy.

Eczema and sun: Most people find that their eczema is better in the summer months. This is partly due to the increased exposure to ultraviolet light, which (in moderation) can have a beneficial effect on eczema. Sunburn is never a good idea! a small percentage of eczema sufferers find that the sun makes their eczema worse and should protect from sun exposure as much as possible. This is called photosensitive ecze.
