What is diplopia?

Double vision: Diplopia means double vision which is when you see two distinct images of a single object. Sometimes the second image is a shadow near the first image. Sometimes it's a completely separate image. If it disappears when you close one eye, it's called binocular diplopia. If it's still there after closing one eye it's called monocular diplopia (less common). Go see an ophthalmologist to help you.

Double vision: Diploplia refers to double vision. The most common cause is the result of the eyes not moving in a conjugate fashion. In other words they do not move together or in a coordinate fashion when fixating on an object. This may be the result of the muscles that control the eye movements, or the nerves that control the muscles.
