Varies: The first week or so after delivery weight loss is rapid- of course you have the weight of the baby, placenta and amniotic fluid from the actual delivery, but there is also a natural diuresis which happens during this time. After this initial loss it is healthy to aim to lose 1-2 pounds per month. Eat a well balanced diet, but don't skip meals or diet as this can negatively affect breastmilk.

It varies a lot: During the first two months, a new mom should rest or just do light chores when the baby is sleeping. She should breastfeed the baby and should eat healthy foods (but not over-eat). After the first couple of months, mom can start exercising more, but the amount of weight loss will most likely depend on how many calories she eats each day.

Weight: It depends on how much weight one gains during pregnancy. In the first two - four weeks a woman loses 8-20 pounds (as the uterus contracts and body looses extra fluid). Breast feeding helps to lose weight quicker. Vigorous exercise should not be started for the first 6 weeks.
