Yes it can happen: Levothyroxine (synthetic thyroid hormone) is used to treat hypothyroidism, or 'low thyroid' when the thyroid gland is not producing enough thyroid hormone. Thyroid hormone has multiple functions in the body including metabolism. Side effects can include agitation, insomnia, vivid dreams, irritability, confusion, appetite changes, and increase in heart rate. See your doctor for help.
