Allergy or Infection: There are many etiologies for lip blisters. Herpes simplex labialis affects many individuals and is due to a recurrent virus infection. It may be induced by stress, sunlight, and an underlying illness. Other causes include an allergy to a cosmetic ingredient. Systemic medications can also be associated with lip blisters.
