Yes, for >2 Decades: Most medical treatment focuses on treating symptoms of advanced disease. Why? Because most people won’t pay attention, or pay for help (especially outside payors) until disease is quite advanced and symptomatic. Given the hidden and slow nature of atherosclerosis combined with recurring hidden minor and sudden onset of major symptoms and damage, treating early is key, but pays poorly in the us.
