Depends: Gerd tends to be a chronic recurrent condition. Therefore i tell my adult patients they will typically be on their medication indefinitely, at least on and off.

Depends: In general, gerd is a chronic condition that does not get "cured" by medications. Depending on consultation with your family physician and referral to specialists, they will work with you to decide best course of treatment. If nothing else is done, symptomatic gerd will require life long medication to alleviate/treat symptoms.
