Oxygen...: Oxygen is necessary for the proper functioning of the vital organs. So, if the oxygen level is low, the brain attempts to increase ventilation. If a person has a disease which prohibits the proper amount of oxygen from getting into the blood, the person will feel short of breath as the body tries to compensate for the low oxygen level. Supplemental oxygen can relieve this symptom.
