A hormone disorder: Pcos is a syndrome or disorder in which women have 2 of 3 of the following: irregular cycles, multi-cystic ovaries, or excess androgens ("male" hormone levels). Pcos has no specific cause but it is associated with obesity, some heredity, and Insulin resistance (also seen in type 2 diabetes). Treatment can help with ovulation, fertility and cosmetics. If one does not ovulate regularly, and or have elevated male hormones either by lab test or increase facial hair or abdominal and chest hair and or a chain of pearl appearance on ultrasound within the ovaries.
