It depends: Are you having surgery? The tm joint is a very complex joint. Typically, if you are having surgery, the joint will not heal out of place. You may have a slight alteration in your bite afterwards that could be permanent, but this depends on your individual situation.

Possibly: The bite can often be corrected to a position that allows the disc to return to its natural position. This is not always the case. Ligaments have been stretched, and there can be damage to the disc itself. More important than disc position is the relief of signs and symptoms, being pain free and having a full range of, motion.

Depends: Depends on the type of treatment. Surgery is the only treatment that will put the disk back in position. But many non-surgical treatments will work quite well, even if the disk is not perfectly aligned.

Definitely, yes: Most people do not need injections or surgery and will get better with simple treatments and time without complications or wrong joint positioning in the Glenoid fossa.
