Technical + Medical: Early after the txp, any of the 4 or 5 connections (# varies) can either be too tight, too loose, or twisted. Fixing these problems usually requires reoperation or repair by interventional radiology. Later, recurrence of the original liver disease (hepatitis or cancer) can happen. Rejection is always a concern, and the meds used to prevent it also cause problems, particularly infections.

Depends: On what period. Early on (0-6 months) nmost complications are technical (related to the procedure), immunological (rejections) or medication related. Beyond this period, infections and disease recurrence are common, as well as medical issues (hypertension, diabetes, high lipids...) related to side feeects opf medications late complications are almost always related to medical conditions.
