Has anyone had an epidural injections and a bulging disk?

ESI: Epidural injections are most useful for situations in which a patient has leg pain from nerve compression. Back pain alone is not a good indication. The effectiveness is greatest if a MRI scan shows evidence of nerve compression or spinal stenosis. A bulging disc is usually a normal finding and not the source of pain, unless a patient has a congenitally narrow spinal canal.

Yes: Bulging discs seen on MRI does not mean pain is always from the level. Very important to do detailed exam and see if bulging disc and pain are cincordant. Many people will have numerous disc bulges and no pain. Epidural steroid, especially if injected to travel both poster and anterior in the space may help. Espwcially of used in conjunction with some sort of fitness therapy.
