Typically 4-6 months: Unfortunately the initial treatment to allow the tendon to heal requires immobilization in a cast for about 8 weeks. After that it will takes several months to gradually regain motion especially the dorsiflexion of the ankle. The strength in the calf muscles must also be gradually built up it will take another month or two to be able to run and jump on the affected area.
