Yes aft any surgery: Septicemia which is also known as sepsis, or a systemic bacterial infection, meaning an infection "running" through the blood stream. Sepsis can occur after any surgery. Risk may depend on the type of surgery or the basic health of the patient.

Possible consequence: Septicemia, or sepsis, which is an infection that causes a whole body reaction like fever, high heart rate and breathing, is a possible outcome of any operation or any procedure. That is why the doctors have to be meticulous about sterility and cleanliness, to prevent an infection which can causes sepsis or septicemia.
