A member asked:

Why does my heart slow to half the rate of a normal person in the daytime when i lie dow to go to sleep?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bradycardia: The "normal" heart rate during wake is 60-100 beats per minute. This is not the same for sleep. Sinus bradycardia (heart rate less than 60) can be completely normal during sleep. This being said, many medications slow the heart rate on top of this. It is not uncommon when i look at a sleep study that someone can have heart rates in the 30s and be asymptomatic.
