Are there any asthmatics out there successfully using inhalers of albuterol?

Albuterol: Albuterol is a type of beta-agonist. It acts by activating beta receptors in lungs which results in dilation and easier breathing. It can also speed up the heart rate because of its beta receptor effects. It has no steroidal activity. However, both bronchodilators and steroids are used in treatment of asthma. Albuterol is used by asthmatics both in inhaler and nebulizer form.

Of course - but...: Albuterol is a great short term symptomatic relief medicine for those with asthma available by prescription. However, if it is being used more than twice a week at any time, consult your physician as you may need to take a "controller" medication that treats the underlying inflammation. If any relief mediation is being used frequently, seek urgent medical evaluation.
