Cancer: This exam also known as a partial colonoscopy can find cancer and polyp growths of the colon and rectum. The exam is limited to the left side of the colon and rectum.

It examines : The rectum and the sigmoid colon. It can be done in office without any sedation. It can diagnose diseases such as proctitis, colitis, look for polyps in the distal colon amd rectum, and also evaluate hemorrhoids. There are several other uses but the above mentioned are more common.
