A member asked:

How do a colonoscopy and a sigmoidoscopy differ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Longer test: A sigmoidoscopy only sees part of the colon. The traditional sigmoidoscopy was 60 centimeters and saw the sigmoid and descending colon. A colonoscope is 120-160cm and should visualize the entire colon. Usually the sigmoidoscopy is done unsedated while the colonoscopy is done with sedation.
