A member asked:

With an intramedullary rod what is the typical recovery timeframe.?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

IM rod: Recovery following insertion of a rod depends on why it was used (i.e. What bone, how badly fractured was bone, was it open). Most fractures are stable enough immediately to permit motion of surrounding joints immediately. Weight bearing depends on healing, which is determined using x-rays.
