No: People who have had a total hip replacement need physical therapy afterward. If the patient can walk a certain amount safely, then the patient can go home after the hospital stay. Often times, those patients who go home qualify for in-home pt and nursing. If they cannot walk enough, the patient goes to rehab until they do achieve those goals.
