Age dependent: For the younger infants, usually there is no difficulty with strangers. Later on usually between 8 and 18 months the babies have stranger anxiety. It is best to first let them get used to the new babysitter while the mother is present.

What age?: If f a baby has had multiple caregivers for brief periods a new caregiver is likely to be well accepted. If no caregivers in the past and baby is at the peak of stranger anxiety there could be problems. The caregiver should be present with mother and lots of play with peekaboo. The absence of mother should be very brief when the baby is well rested and fed. If baby adapts extend absences.
