Wait a little longer: Most otc test will test positive if you are a week past your expected cycle date. Some will catch it earlier but not all the tests. If you are a week late then most of them will test positive if you are pregnant.

Agree with Dr. H: You may get a blood test for HCG level which is more sensitive Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time.
