A member asked:

Why is systolic blood pressure so much higher than my diastolic b.p.?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Heart vs. artery: Systolic blood pressure is generated by the pumping of blood by the heart and is hence higher than diastolic blood pressure which is generated by the recoil of the arterial wall.
